Founding GP Opportunity - Gold Coast
Become a Home-Visit GP on the Gold Coast: Side Income Now, Your Own Practice as We Grow
No C.A.L.L.S GP is live on the Gold Coast yet. That is the opportunity: join now as a flexible side income alongside your current work, and be positioned to build the city's first C.A.L.L.S home-visit practice as the platform grows.
The national bulk-billing rate was 84.1 percent for the June 2026 quarter, still below the 88.9 percent recorded in 2020-21, and a Cleanbill clinic survey found only 20.7 percent of clinics still bulk-bill new adult patients, down from around 35 percent. The Gold Coast Primary Health Network area serves an estimated resident population of more than 663,000 people - a large base of patients already facing that gap. No GP has gone live on C.A.L.L.S there yet.
The gap on the Gold Coast is part of a national pattern
The Gold Coast is one of Australia's largest urban centres outside a state capital, with an estimated resident population above 663,000 people across its Primary Health Network catchment (Department of Health PHN fact sheet). Nationally, the average GP out-of-pocket gap sits at $43.38, with Cleanbill's survey putting Tasmania highest at $54.26. Queensland is not immune to that trend, and a growing, ageing coastal population is exactly where cost-driven avoidance of GP care tends to concentrate.
More than 1.5 million Australians are already avoiding GP care over cost
Reporting that draws on ABS Patient Experiences data puts the number of Australians who delay or avoid seeing a GP due to cost at over 1.5 million. Separately, work from the University of Western Australia and methods summarised by the RACGP estimate that a meaningful share of emergency department presentations - roughly a fifth to over half, depending on definition - could instead be managed in general practice. A GP coming to the patient at home, on a fee the patient and GP agree directly, sits squarely in that unmet demand.
Start as a side income, on your own hours and your own zones
Joining C.A.L.L.S does not mean leaving your clinic job, your locum rotation, or your hospital shifts. You set the suburb zones you will cover on the Gold Coast and the hours you make yourself available - a few hours on a day off, or a regular evening block - and bookings only come in against that availability. There is no quota and no room rental to cover before you earn: you set your own home visit fee, keep 100 percent of it, and pay only a flat monthly membership (how it works, pricing).
That structure matters because of what full-time general practice is doing to GPs. The RACGP's Health of the Nation 2023 report found more than 70 percent of GPs report burnout, almost a third are planning to cut back or quit within five years, and only 13.1 percent of medical graduates are now choosing general practice as a career. A flexible, no-commission side income is a way to earn more without adding to that load.
Be the first C.A.L.L.S GP on the Gold Coast
Every market C.A.L.L.S enters starts with one GP. On the Gold Coast, that GP has not joined yet. Starting now, while there is no established panel or reputation to compete with, means the first GP there sets the pace: the first suburb zones covered, the first patient relationships, the first reviews. As C.A.L.L.S grows in the city and awareness builds, that early position is what turns a side income into the foundation of a full home-visit practice, on your own fee and your own terms, rather than a seat at a clinic someone else owns (see how GPs typically scale up).
This is a genuine early-mover opportunity, not a promise of guaranteed volume. Deloitte Access Economics projects an 11,392 FTE GP shortfall by 2032 - 27.9 percent of the workforce - and the AMA estimates close to $4 billion was stripped from general practice by the Medicare rebate freeze. Those pressures are exactly why demand for a direct-fee, home-visit alternative is building, and why being first in a growing city carries real long-term upside.

Is a C.A.L.L.S GP already seeing patients on the Gold Coast?
Not yet. C.A.L.L.S has no GP live anywhere in Australia at this stage, including the Gold Coast. This page is a call for the first Gold Coast GP to join and help build the service, not an invitation for patients to book.
Do I need to leave my current clinic or hospital job to join?
No. Most GPs who join C.A.L.L.S start by adding a small number of home visit hours around their existing clinic, locum or hospital commitments, choosing their own availability windows and suburb zones on the Gold Coast.
What does being the first C.A.L.L.S GP on the Gold Coast mean long-term?
As C.A.L.L.S grows in a city, the earliest GP there is best placed to build the regular patient panel and reputation that can turn a side income into a full home-visit practice (pricing).
Why is there demand for an alternative to bulk billing on the Gold Coast right now?
The national bulk-billing rate and GP out-of-pocket costs point to a widening gap between what bulk billing covers and what a consultation costs to deliver, a gap documented by the Department of Health and by Cleanbill's clinic survey.
