Work as a Home-Visit GP on the Sunshine Coast: Side Income First, Your Own Practice as We Expand
No C.A.L.L.S GP has gone live on the Sunshine Coast yet. Join now for a flexible side income alongside your current clinic, locum or hospital work, and position yourself to build the Coast's home-visit practice as C.A.L.L.S expands.
AMA Queensland has described bulk-billing incentives as having only a modest local effect on the Sunshine Coast, which is treated as a largely metropolitan market for billing purposes (AMA Queensland). Nationally, the Department of Health reports the bulk-billing rate at 84.1 percent for the June 2026 quarter, still below 88.9 percent in 2020-21. No GP has gone live on C.A.L.L.S on the Sunshine Coast yet.
Incentives have barely moved the needle locally
AMA Queensland's reporting on metro areas not feeling the effects of bulk-billing incentives places the Sunshine Coast alongside Brisbane for billing purposes, where incentive-driven bulk-billing rate gains were measured in a low single-digit percentage. That mirrors the national picture Cleanbill's clinic survey describes: only 20.7 percent of clinics nationally still bulk-bill new adult patients, down from around 35 percent, with an average out-of-pocket gap of $43.38.
A coastal, ageing population is where avoidance concentrates
Reporting drawing on ABS Patient Experiences data puts the number of Australians delaying or avoiding GP care over cost above 1.5 million. Work from the University of Western Australia, summarised with other Australian studies by the RACGP, estimates that a meaningful share of ED presentations, roughly a fifth to over half depending on definition, could be managed in general practice. A region with a large retiree and holiday-home population is exactly the setting where a home visit, rather than a trip to a packed clinic or an ED, matters most.
Start small, on your own hours and your own suburbs
C.A.L.L.S is designed to be added to your week, not to replace it. Choose the suburb zones you will cover, from Caloundra to Noosa, and the hours you make yourself available - a regular weekday session, a weekend block, or time between other shifts. There is no quota and no room rental to cover before you earn: you set your own home visit fee, keep 100 percent of it, and pay only a flat monthly membership (how it works, pricing).
That matters given the state of the profession. The RACGP's Health of the Nation 2023 report found more than 70 percent of GPs report burnout, with almost a third planning to cut back or quit within five years and only 13.1 percent of medical graduates choosing general practice. A no-commission side income you control is a different proposition to another standard shift.
Be the first C.A.L.L.S GP on the Sunshine Coast
No GP has taken up the Sunshine Coast on C.A.L.L.S yet. Joining first means setting the earliest suburb coverage, building the earliest patient relationships, and earning the earliest reviews, well before any local competition for those things exists. As C.A.L.L.S grows and more patients learn about it, that early position is what can turn a side income into the foundation of a full home-visit practice (see how GPs typically scale up).
The scale of the underlying shortage supports that trajectory. Deloitte Access Economics projects an 11,392 FTE GP shortfall nationally by 2032, 27.9 percent of the workforce, and the AMA estimates close to $4 billion was stripped from general practice by the Medicare rebate freeze. A fast-growing coastal region facing those same pressures has room for an early mover to grow with it.

Is there a C.A.L.L.S GP already doing home visits on the Sunshine Coast?
No. C.A.L.L.S has no GP live on the Sunshine Coast or anywhere else in Australia yet. This page is for GPs weighing up joining first, not for patients looking to book a visit.
Will this take over my current job?
Only if you want it to. Most GPs start by adding home visit hours around an existing clinic, locum or hospital role, choosing their own availability windows and suburb zones on the Sunshine Coast.
What is the advantage of being the first C.A.L.L.S GP on the Sunshine Coast?
The first GP in a region builds the earliest suburb coverage, patient relationships and reputation. As C.A.L.L.S expands, that early position is what can turn a side income into a full home-visit practice.
Why does the Sunshine Coast need a bulk-billing alternative?
Industry reporting has described bulk-billing incentives having only a modest effect on the Sunshine Coast (AMA Queensland), consistent with the national decline documented by the Department of Health and Cleanbill.
